RUSSIAN LANGUAGE & CULTURE STUDY
Our Russian program provides a comprehensive range of proficiency levels, including introductory, intermediate, and advanced, meticulously aligned with the standards established by the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL) and the Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) – Тест по русскому языку как иностранному (ТРКИ). Students enroll in this course to earn college entrance AP credit, academic credit, and to enhance their career prospects.
About Introductory Russian language study
The introductory Russian course is divided into four proficiency levels of study. Each level includes 2 sections, totaling 36 hours of 16-week study. The entire introductory Russian course aims to cover 100-120 contact hours, depending on students' capabilities. After completing the introductory courses, students should be ready for the elementary level (A-1) Test of Russian as a Foreign Language (TORFL) – Тест по русскому языку как иностранному (ТРКИ).

In this program, students will learn how to discuss languages such as русский язык vs по-русски, language skills vs studying or knowing languages, cardinal and ordinal numerals, denoting a direct object, accusative case of nouns (formation of singular forms), transitive and intransitive verbs, accusative case of adjectives, possessive and demonstrative pronouns, the verb хотеть - to want, subjects at school, talking about oneself and friends, irregular plurals of nouns, countries and nationalities, prepositional case of possessive and demonstrative pronouns, and singular and plural forms. |
